The NITROKÉMIA Chemical Industrial Plc. gave our company an assignment for an environmental damage control and remediation plan for it’s depot. We detected significant organic and inorganic contamination in the depot’s hydrogeological environment covered with alluvium.
During the planning phase a large diameter driven well with dry drilling technology (with 315 mm casing/screen pipes) was selected from the possibilities of the technical solutions of the production of the groundwater considering the cost efficiency and continuity of the operating, the detainment of the contamination’s spreading, the health protection and the separability of the NAPL (Non-Aqueous Phase Liquid) contamination.
In the end the oxidation with high wavelength synergistic ultraviolet (UV) light was recommended as the most efficient water cleaning method considering the potential of broadening alongside with earlier mentioned reasons. Also there were other complementary methods that came up like the closed system loaded tower with countercurrent air or the oxidation with hydrogen peroxide.
