In 2006 and 2007 our company took part in a
European Union collaboration to examine and reevaluate the flood-control
conditions in the ’’Tisza-Maros-Körösök” region. The aim of the project was to
review and develop new cost-efficient, flexible and effective methods and
technologies for solving problems caused by floods more easily, which could
help the planning and design of complex water and environmental management
activities, and reduction of environmental risks in flood-prone areas.
The main activities undertaken by the Hungarian
partners was to gather geological, hydrological and hydraulic data (using
literature, field observations and measurements, remote sensing techniques
etc.) from the affected areas and sites, to arrange, interpret and summarize
the data (by geological interpretation, hydrogeological data processing,
mapping, modeling, evaluation etc.), and to take part in advertising
activities.
During the project the duties undertaken by the
Hungarian partners were accomplished, the gathered data was evaluated, several
1D-2D models, maps (in digital and paper-form) were made, and air photos were
taken, which helped in the construction of the risk maps in the region.
